A clear cardamom specification comes first

Afri Exports buys coffee in Tanzania's growing zones, from the cooperatives, washing stations and estates of the northern slopes and the Southern Highlands, and from robusta producers in Kagera. We grade it, check it and ship it green, so the buyer deals with one desk from the auction or contract through to the bill of lading.

The grade that suits you depends on what happens in your roastery. A single-origin bag on a cafe shelf needs a bean that roasts evenly and a cup that justifies its name. A blend base needs clean, consistent coffee at a sensible price. We help write that specification before we quote, and we send a sample drawn from the lot we are offering.

Match the grade to the roast

Buying the biggest screen for every job wastes money; buying on price alone risks a cup that fails your customers.

01

Single-origin retail and cafes

AA and peaberry give even roasts and a recognisable Tanzanian profile. Cup the lot before you commit.

02

House coffees on a budget

Grade A is one screen smaller than AA and often the better value for the cup you actually get.

03

Blends and private label

Grade B and natural arabica bring clean acidity or body at a lower cost per bag.

04

Espresso and soluble

Kagera robusta adds body and crema to blends and suits soluble coffee manufacture.

What to put in a green coffee enquiry

A comparable quote needs the same details on both sides. Send these and we will match lots to them, or recommend a grade if you have not chosen one.

  • Grade or intended use, for example AA single origin, B for blends, robusta for espresso
  • Number of bags or containers, starting from one 20-foot container of about 300 bags
  • Processing preference: washed, natural, or either
  • Destination port and preferred Incoterm
  • Bag and liner requirements, including hermetic liners for long voyages
  • Certification, EUDR data or laboratory tests you need before shipment

From enquiry to shipment

The same four checkpoints keep the sample, contract and commercial lot aligned.

  1. 1. Define the lot

We agree grade, bag count, processing, destination and the checks that will appear in the contract.

  2. 2. Cup a sample

We send 300 g to 1 kg of green coffee drawn from the lot on offer, so you cup what will ship.

  3. 3. Confirm the grading record

Screen, moisture and defect results for the lot, plus any contracted laboratory tests, are sent before loading.

  4. 4. Bag, stuff and ship

The coffee is weighed into 60 kg bags, stuffed into the container and shipped under the agreed Incoterm.

Questions buyers ask

What is your minimum order for green coffee?

One 20-foot container, about 300 bags of 60 kg or roughly 18 tonnes. A container can carry more than one grade when the lots are available together.

Can I cup the coffee before I buy?

Yes. We send a green sample of 300 g to 1 kg drawn from the lot on offer. The sample is normally free; the buyer pays the courier.

Do you publish a price list?

No. Green coffee is priced against the futures market, the grade and the lot, and the market moves daily. We quote against a defined lot so the price and the coffee refer to the same thing.
